The holiday season is in full-bloom, much like the bakery department this month! We’ve doubled our in-house bakery production and our selection has increased to include many non-vegan options. Check out our homemade cookies that are on the Juice Bar counter in pretty glass jars. We have classic chocolate chip, peanut butter, almond thumbprints, snickerdoodles and many more, each 99¢! Our muffins are now made in-house and we offer both a wheat-free/vegan and a traditional muffin to choose from. All of our baked goods are carefully prepared with the freshest ingredients and organic when possible. Liam, the Co-op’s vegan baker, produces all of the delicious vegan cakes and tortes in the refrigerator case. These rich and beautiful desserts will also be available for Special Order this holiday season! Along with the vegan desserts, we will also offer whole pumpkin and pecan pies, tarts, cheesecakes, cookies and select pastries for partygoers, just please give us advance notice and we would be delighted to provide a decadent dessert for any occasion!

Grandma Anne’s Butter Cookies

This family recipe is a staple this time of year. They are wonderfully buttery and flavorful. These make the best cookie cut outs ever! Enjoy!
2 cups All Purpose Unbleached Flour
1/4 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 cup Butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds are all optional)
Sift flour and baking powder together. Cream the butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the flour mixture and nuts (optional). Stir until combine. Chill dough before rolling our and cutting into shapes. Frost and decorate with sprinkles.
