BPA monitoring update
In a welcome move, the FDA has committed to re-examining the potential dangers associated with as substance called Bisphynol A or BPA, which is contained in the plastic (#7) used in the lining of some food cans.
The Willy Street Grocery Cooperative has been monitoring and providing information about BPA in some vendors' canned foods and we are encouraging those vendors to to refrain from using BPA products. Until an alternative is introduced, we have continued to seek out new producers who refrain from using BPA in their packaging.
The recent update to our ongoing monitoring of BPA use by our vendors can be found here.
