Aldo Leopold Nature Center’s Black Earth Land Steward Volunteer Work Days

Wednesday, May 2nd, 9:00am–noon and noon–3:00pm; Saturday, May 12th, 9:00am–noon and noon–3:00pm. Volunteers are welcome to come to one or both sessions. Activities are seasonally based and focus mainly on land management projects and invasive species removal. Work days may be cancelled due to inclement weather, or planned activities may be modified. Madison Audubon Society 31st Annual Art Fair

Saturday, May 5th, 9:30am–4:30pm. At Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Free admission to this annual event which features over 100 artists in a gorgeous setting. Additional activities include raffle, silent auction, kids activities and native plant sale. Held rain or shine. Proceeds support MAS education and restoration.

Taste of Willy Street

Tuesday, May 8th, 5:30pm—8:30pm, Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center, 953 Jenifer Street. Eighteen caterers, vendors and restaurants from the Willy Street business area feature their signature dishes. Advance tickets: adults $10; kids under 12 $5. Day of event: adults $12; kids under 12 $6. Tickets on sale at Willy Street Co-op and Star Liquor.

Friends of the Arboretum Native Plant Sale

Saturday, May 12th, 9:00am–2:00pm. Wildflower tent near the UW-Madison Arboretum Visitor Center, 1207 Seminole Highway, Madison. Over 100 varieties of woodland and prairie plants: propagated plants—not dug from the wild; all plants native to area; experts on hand to answer questions; information sheets detailing care with each plant; order prairie mixes, native shrubs and trees.
