Vegan peanut butter cookies
Q: Vegan peanut butter cookies. Hear you are gonna stop making them. Please keep making them as they are my faves and sometimes the only reason to stop in and guess what? I buy more stuff than I intended.

Q: Your carrot cardamom soup is tongue-numbingly heavy on the cardamom. Yuck.

Q: About a month ago I went to Willy West to purchase some bulk ingredients for making nutritious liquid foods for a friend with throat cancer. I was about to purchase all of the green stevia powder in the jar so I asked an employee if there was any more. He told me about the discount available when you order bulk items in advance, he showed me how to do it and he even gave me the discount on a one-pound bag of stevia that day. He also told me that he just learned about the benefits of marshmallow root for throat irritations and he showed me how to purchase the tea in bulk. Today I have a sore throat, or I should say, had a sore throat—the marshmallow root tea really worked for me! I think the employee’s name was Ben, last initial T. What great service and advice he gave... that’s just the kind of caring interaction a person needs but so rarely finds when shopping for medicinal products. Thank you, thank you!

Q: Why does Willy’s stock items that not only are they not local they are not organic nor natural. Particular product is Jiffy Mix. I am from Chelsey, MI and I know they use any and all grain they can get. They get it by the trainload on a daily basis. Most being GMO or heavily saturated with weed and bug killing poison. If I want non-organic/natural food I go to Copps. So… why???
A: Thanks for your comment regarding Jiffy Mix and our decision to carry it. This is part of a class of products that we carry in order to offer a lower-priced solution to people who may not have the means to purchase our higher-end products but still value shopping at their Co-op. Some of our Owners value the lower cost option… if an item like this ceases to sell well for us, we won’t continue to carry it. If you’re looking for a more natural/organic baking mix, we have many different options available. If you have any questions about any of them, feel free to ask! Vegan beer and wine
Q: Some beer and wine makers are not cruelty-free and use animal parts in the fermenting such as fish bladders or eggs. Would it be possible to only stock vegan beer and wine? If not, then to separate it, or to label it so that your vegan customers will know which ones to buy that fit in with our cruelty-free diets? I would buy wine here but I don’t know which ones that fit with my standards. I hope you can help and thanks if you do.
A: Thanks for the comment! At this time we don’t have a good way to label our beer and wine as vegan-friendly. However, I just did a quick check, and it appears the vast majority of what we do sell does not use animal products. There is a really great reference for this online: www.barnivore.com. A: Thanks for writing! You are correct that during the month of January, we only had meatloaf out on our hot bar once. You will be happy to know that it is now back in rotation.
