as community valued as the near east is for each other, surely, as a school might do, lets set up patrol volunteers to help with traffic exiting and entering during its most busiest time- 330p-530p. WS barters with members to stock shelves, we should seek members for helping with congestion- enlist the services of a local teen group or club to do as a community service- scouts, high/middle school. church group-= they all need to give community hours.

To answer your question re: using volunteers to monitor traffic in the driveways. This is an excellent idea. We have planned to monitor both driveways to help us determine future use, however we cannot enlist the help of volunteers (because we're not a not-for-profit), but we're checking to see if there's a local non-profit that would be interested in coordinating this.
Thank you,

Question - during construction, how do you plan to monitor each driveway? I'm sure the on-going comment period will supply feedback and be taken into account, but I'd like to know more about the plan to effectively monitor the driveways during construction.
Good work Willy Street Co-op! You're the best! Keep up the excellent work!

Thank you for your encouragement, together with our Manager's on Duty, Store Managers and other staff - we will be making routine visits throughout the day to each of the driveways and observing the flow of traffic. When/if there is congestion or impacts relating to the driveways we have a system set up to record these instances for later use in analyzing the driveway's effects.

Thanks for your question. When we had our parking lot and driveway project informational meeting on Aug. 16, 2010, one of the excellent ideas the meeting generated was to create this committee. In our Aug. 19 update, we pledged to establish "an ad hoc committee of concerned individuals who represent the interests of neighboring businesses, residents, as well as city staff to evaluate the long-term impacts and management of the Jenifer St. driveway."
The committee has met three times; meeting minutes are posted on our FAQ page here.

The ad hoc committee was never anything more than a sham. If that wasn't obvious before, it is now. But, I do want to thank the committee members (many of whom have resigned) for their sincere effort at trying to represent the community's concerns to an uncaring Coop.

Lindsey Lee, who was asked to be on the Committee to represent the Greater Williamson Area Business Association, resigned from the Committee in early November, 2010. In his resignation letter, he stated, "I will not be able to continue to serve on the ad hoc committee. I need to spend the new year focusing on road construction."
Lindsey was the only Committee member to resign.
