Jenifer St. Driveway Meeting & Short-Term Use Announcement

  • Jenifer St. driveway

What has been your experience with the Jenifer St. driveway?

JENIFER ST. DRIVEWAY MEETING
Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center
953 Jenifer Street (parking available in the church parking lot)
Monday, November 7th
7:00pm-8:30pm

You are invited to a meeting to discuss your experiences with the Jenifer St. driveway specifically, and traffic flow around Willy East in general, to help us shape the long term use of the driveway onto Jenifer St.

We stated prior to installation of the driveway that our intention was to make the driveway egress-only, right-turn-only after construction concluded. However, we have been cautioned that converting the Jenifer St. driveway in this way, short of a full re-installation, may pose safety risks, especially during winter conditions.

Due to that concern, we anticipate continuing to use the Jenifer St. driveway in its current configuration until spring 2012. Between now and then we will conduct a traffic study to compare the Jenifer St. driveway's impact on the conditions we studied on Williamson and Jenifer Streets before the driveway was installed. This new traffic study, combined with the input we receive from public comment and that we are soliciting from traffic experts, will allow us to make an informed decision about the driveway's long-term use. Currently, options we consider possible range from closing the Jenifer Street driveway indefinitely to keeping it as a two-way, ingress/egress to something in between.

If you can't attend the meeting but wish to have your voice heard, pleaseor post a public comment on our Jenifer St. driveway comments page. We will add your input to our considerations. If you have any questions, please e-mail them or post them on the comments page; we will add them to the FAQ page as we are able.

Signed,
Anya Firszt, Dan Frost, Lynn Olson, Wynston Estis, Brendon Smith
