Star anise, cinnamon, and allspice lend this easy dish an exotic flavor. Great on it's own, but would of course go great with some vanilla ice cream or a dollop of creme fraiche. You can also use this like a chutney, serving it alongside roasted meat.
|1 1⁄2 t||star anise (ground)|
|1 1⁄2 t||cinnamon (ground)|
|1 1⁄2 t||allspice (ground)|
|1 lb||plums (halved and pitted)|
|1 lb||nectarines (halved and pitted)|
|6 T||butter (melted)|
In a small bowl, combine the sugar, star anise, cinnamon, and allspice. Set aside.
Arrange the halved plums and nectarines in a single layer on one or two parchment-lined baking sheets. Brush with the melted butter. Sprinkle with the sugar and spice mixture.
Place in the broiler with the rack at least 4 inches away from the heat source. Cook about 20 minutes, until caramelized and fragrant.
