Stewed Plums

These stewed plums are lovely to eat at any time of day. Have them with hot cereal or spoon them on toast with some cream cheese or butter.


1 1⁄2 lbplums (pitted and sliced)
1⁄4 csugar
2 Tlemon juice (plus more to taste)


Heat the chopped plums in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sugar and 1/2 a cup of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until just tender. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice. Taste and add more sugar or lemon juice if needed. Allow to cool, then serve.
