ANNUAL MEETING & PARTY
Save the date for the Annual Meeting & Party, July 8th, at the site of La Fête de Marquette!

Collaborating once again with the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center, this year’s Annual Meeting & Party is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and well attended in our 35 year history. Responding to feedback from last year’s party, we will be prepared to serve over 4,000 meals from 4:00pm–8:00pm; look for this and other improvements to our event based on Owner feedback.
Owners, you can pick up the free tickets for you and your family starting right now. As a note, if you are waiting until the day-of, the registration table will close at 7:00pm. If you anticipate needing additional tickets for your own guests, meal tickets will be available for $6 and beverage tickets will be $4 before and during the party until 7:00pm.

The business meeting will begin at 6:00pm, and, again in response to Owner feedback, we are planning to have more remote speakers located outside the even bigger tent than last year to provide greater participation. If you are thinking about leaving the kids at home, think twice. Gary Kallas, Executive Director of Wil-Mar, has done an incredible job of planning this event—especially the inclusion of a real Ferris wheel free to Owners the night of the party.

Please keep in mind that as part of the business meeting Board elections are announced, and candidates are invited to make a short statement regarding their candidacy. You can also learn about each candidate on the Co-op website in August.
Le Fête de Marquette comes on the coattails of the Co-op’s Annual Meeting and Party. Le Fête promises to deliver “de bons monments et bonne nourriture” (good times and good food)!

BOARD ELECTIONS
Online voting will again be an option for you to cast your ballot in this year’s annual Board election. We will provide you with clear instructions for voting either online or with a traditional paper ballot. This dual submittal process requires slightly varying voting times to ensure authentic ballots. Balloting will begin August 1st, 2010 for both options; online voting will close Sunday, August 15th, with paper balloting ending Tuesday, August 17th in order to authenticate individual ballots received. The results will be announced at the special membership meeting called for August 17th in the Community Room after 6:30pm when the last call for ballots is announced.

Online voting requires that we have your current email address—should you want to cast your ballot online, I encourage you to double check with us to make certain we have your current email address!

WILLY WEST UPDATE
If you have not checked out our Project Manager’s blog and are interested in the progress of Willy West—you can log onto www.willystreet.coop/blog/phil_ward for updates and information.

In early June, our project manager, Phil Ward, handed over the finalized set of plans to our General Contractor, ICS (Innovative Construction Solutions, Inc). ICS will be working with their architect, Scott Brothen of Tailored Places, LTD. to bring the plans to 100% completion.  We expect our construction phase to begin later this month, once the landlord’s work is complete.
We lost a key player of our team in late May with the untimely passing of Jeff Bingham, President of Commercial Air, our refrigeration partner. Our condolences to his family and colleagues. He will be sorely missed, but our thanks to his partners in Commercial Air who are now heading up the charge to keep us on track for our scheduled opening in the fall.

EASTSIDE FARMERS’ MARKET
Eastside Farmers’ Market is operating at their new space located at 953 Jenifer Street, Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center. If you have not checked it out, there are several new vendors, as well as some of your old favorites who could really use your support—every Tuesday from 4:00pm–7:00pm until October 12th.
