On a rainy September morning, about 30 Co-op Owners bravely set out for the second of our two Farm Tours this year. We hopped aboard the bus at Willy West and headed to Willy East to gather up the east side participants. From there, we headed to Sassy Cow Creamery in Columbus, and enjoyed a tour of the farm and the creamery, led by owner James Baerwolf.

As the skies began to clear at the end of our Sassy Cow tour, we boarded the bus and headed off to Cross Plains to meet Cassie and Mike Noltnerwyss at Primrose Community Farm. Upon arrival, we had a short tour of their brand new packing and cooling facilities. This was followed by a tasty lunch catered in their beautiful barn by Willy Street Co-op. After that, we took a tour of the fields and other buildings.

From there, we headed to Willow Creek Farm in Loganville. Farmers Tony and Sue Renger took us on a tour of their hog farm, and shared with us their stories of raising hogs and operating a USDA processing facility.
