Another beautiful month at Willy Street Co-op!
Last month, we wrapped up another Board candidate application cycle, and candidate applications are officially closed. As Board Development Committee Chair, it has been exciting to see the process come together and to connect with owners interested in serving our Co-op in this way. Thank you to everyone who took the time to learn more, ask questions, attend a meeting, or submit an application.
Now, we get to turn our attention to one of my favorite opportunities to gather as a cooperative. Our Annual Meeting is coming up at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6. I hope you’ll join us virtually! You can register at willystreet.coop/annual-meeting. The Annual Meeting is a chance to come together as Owners, hear more about the state of our Co-op, connect with your Board, and participate in the cooperative process that makes Willy Street Co-op what it is. Plus, the first 50 Owners to register and attend will get a $10 gift card, and all attendees have a chance to win a $25, $50, $75, or $100 gift card!
This is also a good time to talk about what it means to have a Board of Directors. Your Board is here to keep an eye on the big picture. We think about the Co-op’s long-term vision, provide oversight, monitor organizational health and accountability, and make sure the Co-op continues moving in a direction that reflects its mission and values.
As Board members, we get the privilege of stepping back, looking ahead, asking good questions, and representing the interests of the ownership as a whole.
We love being your Board of Directors, and we’re looking forward to seeing many of you on October 6. Here’s to another month of cooperation, community, and continuing to build something pretty special together.
