Sprouts FAQs:
Q: Does my child need any prior cooking knowledge or experience?
A: No. Our instructors are on hand to help each student and work with them and their abilities. A good attitude, an interest in learning about food and cooking, and a willingness to cooperate and work with others are all your child needs!
Q: Will my child have adequate supervision?
A: Two adult Co-op staff members will be present for the entire class time. The kitchens are fully equipped with first aid and are monitored by security cameras.
Q: Does Willy Street Co-op provide aprons or smocks?
A: No. Adults are encouraged to dress children in clothes that are okay to get messy.
Q: Does Willy Street Co-op provide hats, bandannas, or other hair coverings?
A: No. Adults are encouraged to have children tie back long hair, wear a hat or cap, or kerchief/bandanna.
Q: Can you accommodate food allergies?
A: Please refer to the class description for a list of any allergens expected to be a part of the curriculum. Requests for accommodation will be considered, but please understand that in some cases alterations to the curriculum may not be possible.
Q: Do you have classes that are “gluten-free” or “allergen-free?”
A: Strictly speaking, no. Recipes that are made without gluten or allergens cannot be guaranteed to be entirely free of either, as our facilities are also used to produce foods that do contain these items.
Q: Do I need to bring anything to class?
A: A learning attitude! All equipment and ingredients will be provided.
Q: Will we get recipes to take home?
A: Yes! Printed copies of the recipes we make will be available. Additionally, a digital copy can be sent to your email if you wish, just ask the instructor.
Adult Class FAQs:
Q: Do I need any prior knowledge or experience?
A: No for most classes. A good attitude and an interest in learning are enough! Please refer to specific class descriptions for further details.
Q: Can my under-18 child take an adult class?
A: Minors 12 and up may attend if they are accompanied by an adult, but they may not attend alone. Please note, if the adult will be participating in the full class, a separate paid reservation will be required. Please note, some classes do have a lower age limit threshold.
Q: What do I need to bring to class?
A: Some folks choose to bring a pad to take notes, and feel free to bring a water bottle. Some classes may provide a recipe handout. Please refer to specific class descriptions for further details.
Q: How long are classes?
A: Classes typically run between 1 ½ and 2 ½ hours in length.
Q: Will I be able to ask questions?
A: Yes! Our instructors love what they do and sharing their knowledge.
Q: Are cooking classes hands-on?
A: Generally, adult classes are primarily demonstrations (think live interactive cooking show) with some opportunities to participate more, but if you’re itching to get your hands dirty, feel free to ask the instructor if you can help!
Q: What if I have a food allergy?
A: Major allergens are listed in the class description, but feel free to reach out to us in advance with any requests or concerns, as the instructor may be able to accommodate your needs.

A: There is a self-serve filtered water dispenser in both of our kitchens, but unless the class description specifically mentions a drink, there is no beverage service. Feel free to bring a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.
