Willy West shoppers: we are working with Dane Arts Mural Arts (who helped with our Willy North mural) to paint a mural for the side of the store. We want to hear which of the three designs YOU think we should use! Vote at Willy West by July 1.(All mural designs are drafts; details of the final images are subject to change.)

The Three Themes

1. LOCAL AND NATIVE SPECIES: Local and native species as it ties in what we talk about for eating local and supporting local farmers and producers.

2. GROWING A LOCAL ECONOMY: Emphasizing the close-to-rural nature of the West side store. Located on the edge of the urban areas of Dane county, it is only a short way in almost any direction where you can find some of the more rural communities like Spring Green, Lodi, Black Earth, New Glarus, and many more. Many of the shoppers and vendors of Willy West come from these areas, and the mural could reflect the rural feeling of rolling hills and seemingly endless fields of our community.

3. WISCONSIN NATIVE YARDS AND ORGANIC GARDENING: Native yards nourish a healthy environment and feed a host of native bugs, butterflies and birds. They nourish and enrich all of us by bringing us closer to the natural environment upon which all life depends. Has a culture of respect, generosity, and authenticity – respecting nature and encouraging native environments is a more authentic and generous way to live. Authentic because we support nature; generous because we support something greater than ourselves (the web of life).
