Chez Danisse recommends this on top of pancakes, but don’t stop there–try it over oatmeal, or yogurt, or ice cream, or by itself in a bowl with a dollop of whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound rhubarb
  • 2 apples
  • 1 lemon
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cardamom pod
  • 2 bags earl grey tea
  • 4 tablespoons orange zest

Preparation

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir well. Transfer to a Dutch oven or casserole dish and bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring once or twice.
  2. Serve warm or cool.
