Star anise, cinnamon, and allspice lend this easy dish an exotic flavor. Great on it's own, but would of course go great with some vanilla ice cream or a dollop of creme fraiche. You can also use this like a chutney, serving it alongside roasted meat.

- 6 T sugar
- 1 1/2 t star anise
- 1 1/2 t cinnamon
- 1 1/2 t allspice
- 1 lb plums
- 1 lb nectarines
- 6 T butter
Caramelized Asian-spiced Plums and Nectarines Directions
- In a small bowl, combine the sugar, star anise, cinnamon, and allspice. Set aside.
- Arrange the halved plums and nectarines in a single layer on one or two parchment-lined baking sheets. Brush with the melted butter. Sprinkle with the sugar and spice mixture.
- Place in the broiler with the rack at least 4 inches away from the heat source. Cook about 20 minutes, until caramelized and fragrant.
