Furikake is the salt & pepper of Japan, often sprinkled on rice to make it more flavorful. It's a crunchy, salty seasoning that typically contains bonito flakes or salmon bits, as well as MSG. This home-made version is simple to make. Try it on rice, as they do in Japan, or on popcorn for a yummy treat!

Vegetarian Furikake Rice Seasoning Directions
- Gently toast each nori sheet by holding them with tongs over a low flame. They burn quickly, so be careful. Use kitchen shears to snip the sheets into small pieces.
- Combine half of the sesame seeds, the salt, and the sugar, and grind with a mortar and pestle. Transfer to a small mixing bowl. Stir in the remaining sesame seeds and the nori. Store in an airtight container.
